Player Emotes
Origin and History
Player Emotes is a free plugin that I created in April of 2016. When it began, it was made to be a
small plugin that just ran text when a player ran a command. At that point it was more for me to
test concepts than to have something that was useful. As time went on, I started to test new
features, and continue to update, for Player Emotes.
Within a month I had decided to make the plugin a premium resource, and leave the current version
free.
The premium version is actively developed, with new features added often.
Features
Player Emotes has a rather small feature set, compared to it's premium version, but still has a few features that would be useful for servers that are looking for a free alternative.
Visual Effects
- Chat Messages
- This is the key feature of Player Emotes, as there are only a few features in the plugin to begin with. This feature simply displays a chat message with the message that is setup for the emote.
- Particles
- The particle system in Player Emotes is very rudimentary as it was my first attempt using particles. The particle effects use a particle shape/design, as well as a particle type. The admins cannot select a specific particle type to use.
- Sounds
- The sound effects available in Player Emotes Pro are any of the sounds available in Minecraft, and when used will play the sound effect for the player.
Background Features
- Commands
-
Each emote has a command to allow the user to easily run it, and can also add a
player's name to target the player with the emote.
In addition to the emotes, the player can also use commands to open the menu and reload the plugins files. - Menu
- The menu system in this plugin is only for emote selection and target selection.
- Emote Creation
- The emote creation is done through the use of YAML files, and cannot be edited in game with menus.
